TRW Assignment 2

Dear Students,

The Aim of this assignment is to make your probably first attempt in writing your first CV as well as a cover letter that is a tailored around a certain job offer.

So first you need to create your own resume (CV) as we have discussed previously.

During the class we were relying on the following article:

http://knol.google.com/k/norman-creaney/how-to-write-a-great-first-cv-resume/1hzaxtdr9c09g/12#

Where you will find a good explanation why you need a resume and how to start writing one.

Next step would be to use BasharJobs.com to fill in your profile by creating an account and completing your profile to at least 70% then you can easily click the generate CV button to create PDF copy of your profile which is a fair CV however you need to take that content and format it in a good way as in the article above.

After that using BasharJobs.com you may find jobs that fit your skills as well as your ambition. read the job ad carefully and analyize it for the information you need to write a good cover letter.

Take a copy of the job ad as well as its URL (web address from your browser).

Write a cover letter to include with your resume.

you may see the following article for examples of good cover letters.

http://www.career.vt.edu/jobsearchguide/coverlettersamples.html

So in conclusion you will deliver 3 items:

  1. Your very well written CV.
  2. The Job Advertisement to which you wish to apply.
  3. A cover letter as if your were really applying for that job.

Please do your best to proofread your resume and cover letter to make sure they do not have typographic errors or formatting issues.

This assignment is due Thursday, December 8, 2011.

Finally I wish to remind you (again) copying from your colleague or friend is a terrible crime that will assure the both of you a very big zero.

Thank you & best wishes for you all on your midterm exams :)
